The Regional Municipality of York will hold an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre, located at 17250 Yonge Street in the Town of Newmarket.
The fair, which helps recognize National Emergency Preparedness Week, May 5 to 11, will feature fun and interactive exhibits and vehicles from York Regional Police, York Region Emergency Medical Services, local fire services, the Red Cross and St. John Ambulance.
This event will help teach children and families about preparing themselves for an emergency, including knowing the risks, making a plan and getting an emergency kit for both an evacuation and taking shelter within the home.
The fair will also feature a barbecue, contests and giveaways, including copies of York Region’s Emergency Preparedness Guide. You can also meet Red E Fox, York Region’s 9-1-1 mascot and some of his friends.
