The regular monthly meeting of the
Central Toronto Amateur Radio Club, Incorporated
will be held on
Tuesday March 7th, 2017 at 19:30 EDT
Leaside Retirement Residence, 10 William Morgan Drive
After the regular business portion of the meeting and the break, we are very happy to present George VE3YV to talk about urban DX'ing.
George chases DX barefoot on SSB, CW, and digital modes from a 4.7m (15.5ft) wide row house with a roof mounted 2 el yagi and trapped dipole in the centre of Toronto. He also gets on the air from his cottage using a dipole fed with open wire on all bands, but only when not enjoying the lake or processing (wood) logs. He is active in RAC, IARU R2, and the Mississauga Amateur Radio Club (VE3MIS). He is the former Chair of the Trustees of the Defense of Amateur Radio Fund (DARF), President of the Canadian DX Association and the West Side Amateur Radio Club. He was a founding Director of RAC and served as a Director of its predecessor CRRL.
He is a retired CIO, and now a professor of IT at George Brown College. First licensed in 1965, he is a life Maple Leaf Operator member of RAC and a life member of ARRL.
